Personal Wedding Sites

So… by now you have probably realized that there is no way to fit all of your wedding details and information into one invitation! There is just no way! An invitation is just that… an invitation to an event. It is a necessary means to advise your guests of the date, time, and place of your celebration. But what about all that other way cool stuff about the two of you??? You met at Space Camp??? Your favorite thing to do as a couple is go to County Fairs??? How will they know that he proposed to you with a rented monkey who sang “At Last” while dancing on the railroad tracks that would lead you to the train you would be taking on a surprise trip to Chicago where a limo was waiting to take you to your hotel suite loaded with 15 truckloads of flowers?????

So this is my suggestion….. You need a wedding website!!! So many of my brides are doing this right now and I couldn’t be happier! It is such a neat way for you to give your friends and relatives an inside look at this life-changing event that you are planning. What a great way for them to be involved and appreciate all the hard work that you and your fiancee have put into this wedding. Let them be a part of it all… you don’t want them to just show up on your wedding day; Take them on a journey!

1. Spread the Word! Post the link to your wedding website on any social network that you are a part of (facebook, myspace, twitter, yearbook). Just about everyone these days is a part of some social network.  Also consider putting a little card with your website url in with your invitation. {Shameless Plug: have your guests re-visit your website a few weeks after the wedding to see previews of your Wedding Images!  You know that Aunt Myrtle is anxiously waiting for that shot of her and the busboy!}

2. Tell All! Your friends and family want to know it all!  Never before have we known SO MUCH about our friends and family! (We all saw little Johnny’s birthday pictures on facebook, heard about our neighbor’s surrogate pregnancy on twitter, and discovered more than we want to know on a friends myspace page!) And we LOVE IT!!! Try to avoid rambling, but do share all the relevant details that you care to share.

Your family and friends will love to know:

Your “how we met” love story

How he proposed,

Where you are registered,

What, Where, & When of your Event

Your Attendants

Maps, Hotel, and Rental car information for out-of-town guests

Online RSVPS?

3. Enjoy! When it comes down to it, the only real “rules” that matter are the ones that your fiancee and you set. This is your wedding, your special moment, and at the end of the day the two of you are all that matters! So whether you do/don’t follow the traditional rules and etiquette laid out… Have a BLAST!!!!
