Senior Session :: Stevie T.

Stevie is stunning.

I’m jealous of her eyes…. and her hair…. and her name!

To say that she was fun to have in front of the lens is a gross understatement. She is one of those girls that can’t take a bad picture!  (Yes!!!)

Congratulations Stevie! Thanks for being so gorgeous and having the great personality to go with it :)

I’ll see you at your Aunt’s wedding this spring!

Mariah’s Portrait Session

There are some photoshoots that I wish could go on forever. This was definitely one of those!

If you’ve ever worked with me, there is a good chance that you’ve either met, or worked with my sister Mariah. Out of us 5 kids, she is the middle child – with beautiful blonde curly hair and big brown eyes. Growing up, we relentlessly teased her by singing “They call the wind Mariah”… she still hates that song, and we still tease her about it.

Mariah hadn’t had any photos done of herself in a very long time, and I really wanted to do some conceptual images with a “prop” that is very important to me…. our Momma’s violin. We grew up with music in our home daily – Momma plays piano and violin “by ear”. The violin has always been my favorite instrument – I just love the violin shots we got at this session. She probably got aggravated with me after hearing “hold it like this” a thousand times lol. (I didn’t stick with my violin lessons as a girl, but I still remembered some of the basics. Unfortunately for Riah).

My little sister is an artist in her own right and always has my back at weddings and sessions. Mariah has been “the wind” beneath my wings so many times – and I appreciate her so much!

Love the hazy effect here… some of it was there already, but it’s amazing what a little breathing on the lens filter will do to create that cloudy look!

The above is my absolute favorite shot… maybe of the whole year!  L.O.V.E.

I wasn’t 100% familiar with my manual settings last spring when this session was shot, but I knew that to get the soft water effect I would need to slow down my shutter speed. I simply put my camera into TV mode (shutter priority) and played with the settings until I got it to look the way that I wanted it to.  I noted the settings and then switched it to manual mode until I got comfortable using this specific setting. There is no teacher like trial and error!

Beautiful Rye-Rye, thank you for all of your hard work and for being such a joy to be around!  You make my heart smile :)

I agree, sisters ARE wonderful! The waterfall was temporary, it appeared here in Hillsboro after all of the rain that we had this spring!

Lovely girl, lovely photos. I love how they also show you don’t have to show a lot of skin to be beautiful.

These are gorgeous! One word comes to mind: ethereal.

Aysha C’s Session | St. Louis Senior Photography

It was early. Very early!

Aysha and I met very early a few weeks ago on a Wednesday morning for our session. Although she is 19 and technically not a senior anymore – she had never had her Senior Portraits taken. (Lucky me!) It was one of those mornings where the condensation is on your car even after driving for awhile, there was a little brisk feeling in the air – but you could tell that once the sun rose all the way the heat would follow! (We seem to have had lots of these kind of days recently in St. Louis.)

She came totally prepared with a backseat full of wardrobe choices…. my kinda girl :) I knew she had style – her family goes to the same church Adam and I attend – a gorgeous family with beautiful smiles and equally as beautiful hearts.

Fun fact: Aysha’s boyfriend is the brother of one of my July brides! (who is also one of my best friends in the world, keep a look out for the wedding images =)

We drove around for awhile – looking for the light – and had passed up this little side road. It wasn’t until we had turned around, drove down the side road, changed our minds, and driven back towards the main road that we saw the coolest pile of tree trunks! Now, normally I would say that tree trunks are cliche’ and would’ve been adamantly against the said wood pieces. However, these trunks were HUGE – and the detail in the wood rings was just too cool to pass up.

Old downtown Fenton gave us some neat unexpected building fronts as a backdrop… who knew that this neat looking building (a warehouse) is located in Fenton? I must have driven by it a hundred times and never noticed it before. It was definitely interesting. I wanted to get all of the building in the images, but to do so had to stand across the street and was shouting directions from the other side of the 3 lane road! lol

This girl brought the fi-yah. So happy we got to do this – I know you will love this set of images too. Aysha, thanks for being a total supermodel, and for not laughing (too much) at me!
